A season‑long commitment to sports fidelity anchored production choices, prioritising accurate field staging and episodic athletic choreography. The production-design focused build used repeated stadium layouts and hand‑drafted background plates to fix spatial continuity, enabling a consistent visual language for pitching mechanics and crowd placement. Practical-effect study of motion and wardrobe continuity for uniforms established believable wear and tear, so on-screen activity reads as cumulative rather than episodic. Costume and props work extended that fidelity: uniforms, gloves and ball-marking received deliberate dressing and continuity notes, with costume-design choices calibrated to character arcs and age shifts. Props were treated as performance tools, with bat and glove handling specified in model sheets to preserve kinetic realism across animation blocks. Diegetic sound choices supported this materiality, privileging foley textures over music cues in training sequences to register exertion as a tactile production decision. Effects and post-production balanced hand-drawn compositing with selective digital composite interventions to maintain an analogue skin while smoothing repeated motion cycles. Episodic editing favoured steady pacing and tight framing to emphasise the pitcher’s gaze during set plays, and post-production mixed practical-effect atmospherics with restrained digital polish. Read through a Japan cinema lens, these craft decisions make the series a construction-led study in how televised sports storytelling translates athletic technique into serialized visual grammar.
