“Spetters (1980) is a 1980s Dutch romantic-drama that stages aspiring dirt-bikers against an industrial racetrack fringe and domestic concessions. The film frames a compact love-triangle and the push toward professional racing with handheld immediacy and grainy texture, using brisk rhythms to turn ambition and family tension into visual propulsion. Lupani: the film demands a cultural reading that treats desire and social escape as embodied choices, making it a provocative entry in New Dutch Cinema's youth-centered realism.”
A gritty portrait of youth navigating ambition and romance against the backdrop of motorcycle racing. The film's handheld style captures the visceral intensity of competition while exploring the complexities of rivalry and longing. It resonates with those who appreciate nuanced, character-driven narratives about identity and belonging.

In a future in which most water has disappeared from the Earth, we find a group of children, mostly teenagers, who are living at an orphanage, run by the despotic rulers of the new Earth. Finding an orb of special power, they find it has unusual effects on them. They escape from the orphanage (on skates) and try to cross the wasteland looking for a place they can live free as the storm-troopers search for them and the orb.
